The Roof That Never Ends

Last Tuesday we finished up the electrical wiring that had to be done before finishing the roof. We had to run wires for the kitchen, living room, porch and loft. All of the wires went up through the peak, down the outside of the roof, then inside to the breaker box (which is not installed yet). Bob then had to create a boxed overhang for the insulation to sit on. From there, we started laying down the 4x8 sheets of rigid insulation held down by 2x4 strapping. This took several days and was exhausting physically and mentally since there's no easy way to maneuver around the roof. Thursday morning, he laid down the mesh over the soffit vent and was able to install one panel of the metal roof.

Thursday night, Bob's elbows and right ankle were overexerted and painful from all the roof work. It was time for a well needed break and to let his joints heal. It took almost a week to get back to where he could work again! On Wednesday he headed back up to start laying more roofing. Between yesterday and today he finished one entire side of metal roofing and half of the other side. Then back home to ice his joints before finishing tomorrow! Seems like we've been working on this roof for months...
