Well That Didn't Work!
In keeping with the spirit of this family friendly blog, I'm going to leave out the curse words that describe the cluster that was yesterday. First thing in the morning, Bob fell off the freakin' roof! Before anyone worries about him....he's fine. I was on one side of the house setting up my camera to take pictures of the disappointing eclipse and he was on the other side of the roof using a saw to trim off some overhang that didn't need to be there. All of a sudden, I hear things falling and sliding down the roof, so in a panic I rushed over to him and hear him calling out "I'm okay!". Thank God, he was alright! The generator broke his fall after he bounced off of it.
Here's the thing, he has a safety harness that he wears, but the thing is useless unless he's in the middle of the roof. He has to let out so much slack to reach the sides, that if he were to fall, the rope is too long to keep him suspended. The entire time he was falling he kept bracing for the harness to grab, but it never did! He was a bit shaken, bumped and bruised, but the work had to go on. Back up the roof he went!
We didn't go up on Friday because of all the rain and Saturday was still too wet to work on the roof. So Sunday when we went up we had a nice pond to brush out of the house again. Hopefully we can get moving on this roof to avoid sweeping it again! We also brought up a load of 2x4's and the insulation for the roof.
We had some warping on the roof from all of the rain so Bob had to fasten some spots down with screws to flatten them back out. He then spent the rest of Sunday as well as yesterday fighting with the crappy staple gun to put down the black roof underlayment. I pretty much just help him if he needs it and watch him fall off the roof. I did make myself a bit useful by nailing some support brackets to a few of the posts under the house. Today, we head back up to finish up some wiring and start laying the insulation.
