Finished The First Layer of the Roof
Yesterday, I transported the rest of the tongue and groove pine boards up to the cabin site. It took me about 6 hours to complete and I was exhausted when I finished, but now the only things that remain to be transported are the 2 inch 4x8 rigid foam insulation boards, the metal roofing and the windows and doors. This may still sound like a lot, but in comparison to what we have already transported, this is nothing!
Today, Christy and I finally finished the first layer of the roof. The entire cabin is enclosed now (except for windows and doors). We are supposed to get rain all day tomorrow, so we are hoping that the first layer will be enough to keep the interior dry. Up to this point, we have had to sweep all of the water out each time it rains.
Next on the list, run a bit more wiring. Once that is done, we can starting putting the insulation on the roof. On top of the insulation, we put strapping and then the metal roof. We are getting so close to having an enclosed, weather tight cabin!
Tonight, Christy and I went to Lowes and purchased all of our lighting. We found some awesome fixtures that will look great in the cabin. Everything matches! Can't wait to see them all installed.
