Barlow Family Visit and Loft Joists

Today, Christy's sister Katie and her husband Devin came up to see the cabin and help out a little bit. We showed them around the property and Devin helped me install the 6x8 inch beam. This thing weighed a ton! Thankfully, Devin picks things up and puts them down! He didn't seem to have any trouble lifting it! The main goal for today was to put up some of the loft joists and also finish some of the wall framing that I had missed yesterday. We were only able to install 5 of the joists, because I ran out of shorter 4x8 beams. I know that I need the longer (16 foot) beams for the rafters, so I didn't want to cut a 16 footer down to 10 feet. I will have to wait until I get more or the 12 foot to 14 foot beams transported up from the car lot. Thanks to Devin for his help!
