More Lumber Transportation
Christy's favorite thing to do is transport lumber! (Just kidding, she hates it!)
We transported an entire pallet of loft joists up to the cabin. We loaded the pallet on a car trailer down at the car lot and drove it up. Once we got to the clearing at the end of the Class VI road, we off loaded them on to my homemade trailer and hauled them to the cabin site. It was about an 8 minute ride to get to the top from the clearing. At the top, we unloaded and stacked all of the joists. Then we headed back down for another load. It took 5 trips total. After finishing the trailer load, we had to get 66 2x4s out of the bed of my truck and bring them up. We stacked them on the roof rack of the quad (24 at a time) and drove them up to the top. We finished in 3 trips. Once all of the transportation was finished, we got to work. We had realized the night before, that we were supposed to cut notches for the loft joists, in Row "N" before we put it up and we hadn't done that. We took down Row "N" and cut all of the notches and put it back up. This took quite some time, so after finishing the notches, Christy and I cut and placed one loft joist to see how it would fit. Then we called it a day.
